Taman Hikmah Ramadan - Majelis 5

Charity is a Proof

Image
Everybody on earth loves money. Well at least we are sure that everyone is happy in payday. Majority of people receive their salaries with smile. But we sometimes find people who could share or give some of their wealth to others in charity. How could it be? . Imam ibn Uthaymeen in Sharh Boolughul Maram said : One cannot lose(leave) something he loves except for another thing he loves more. . As a Muslim, we testify that we love Allah. And most of people know that Allah loves charity and people who love doing it. And besides, He is the Most Rich. He is the one who has the ultimate ownership of all wealth in this world. So how could someone who testified that he loves Allah reject to give some of their wealth for charity in the cause of Him? That's why in Islam we called charity with the term of Sadaqah. . Sadaqah comes from the word sidq (sincerity), i.e. it is a sign of sincerity of faith on the part of the person who gives it. (See Fath al-Qadeer, 2/399) Therefore, Let...

How much does $1 mean for you?

Image
$1 might get you a can of coke in the US, a cone of ice cream in Croatia, or a sausage roll in Australia. But in developing countries, $1 goes further than that. For instance, in Indonesia, $40 could feed a family for a month, it means $1.5 per day! . That's very small amount compared to the US per capita expenditure a day. So you might want to try to have coke diet days and help many people with the dollars you've saved. It may only mean a sugar free days or a decrease in the risk of obesity to you, but for the needy, it would be a meaningful relief. . And as we've been taught, there's no insignificant deed in Islam Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little.” Al-Bukhari So, Small things aren't small at all in the Islamic point of view. In fact, it's bigger than ...

Pursuit of happiness

Today, like yesterday, we are happy when our needs and desires are fulfilled. So the pursuit of happiness has become connected to what might be termed as “selfish” behavior. The more we have the more content we are, the more we take the happier we will be. But is that so? As a Muslim we know the fact that our Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the happiest man that had ever lived on earth. We know it for sure from the history of his noble life that is written in the Qur'an, or in the Hadeeth, or in books of tareekh written by the Islamic scholars. How did our Prophet live his life? Rasulullah ﷺ was known for his generosity even before Prophethood. When he received his first revelation, he rushed home shaken by the experience. Khadijah radiyallahu ‘anha, may Allah be pleased with her, reminded and relieved him by testifying, “Allah would never humiliate you, for you are good to your relatives, you are true to your word, you help those wh...

Kamu pilih mana?
