Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that." (Bukhari) MashaAllah! How incredible! Rhetorically, all Muslims believe that prostitution (zina) is unlawful (haram ) for anyone, it is even among the greatest sins in Islam. But, Allah al Rahman al Gafoor forgave a prostitute because of her act of giving some water to a thirsty dog. An act that seems trivial to us turns out to be the cause of a great sin to be forgiven. It could be harmful whenever it leads us to hurt others. And for centuries, society understands that this envy or jealousy isn't a good thing. Remember last ramadan we filled our days fully with so many good deeds. We fasted, we gave charity, we prayed a lot even when the others were sleeping, we read the Quran, and etc. But we don't know whether it could save us from the hellfire, or the opposite. Because we can't guarantee that we were sincere when doing those deeds. So one can't tell which one of his deeds was accepted by Allah. That should make us worry and that is the situation of the most of our predecessors and scholars. They're worried as well about their good deeds while their deeds were greater in number and greater in supremacy and comprehension or even in sincerity. Everybody on earth loves money. Well at least we are sure that everyone is happy in payday. Majority of people receive their salaries with smile. But we sometimes find people who could share or give some of their wealth to others in charity. How could it be? . Imam ibn Uthaymeen in Sharh Boolughul Maram said : One cannot lose(leave) something he loves except for another thing he loves more. . As a Muslim, we testify that we love Allah. And most of people know that Allah loves charity and people who love doing it. And besides, He is the Most Rich. He is the one who has the ultimate ownership of all wealth in this world. So how could someone who testified that he loves Allah reject to give some of their wealth for charity in the cause of Him? That's why in Islam we called charity with the term of Sadaqah. . What is the value of a piece of date to you? For some people, a piece of date might only means 66.5 calories to fulfil their daily calorie need. But in Islam a piece of date is valued much more than that! How could it be? . The Messenger (ﷺ) said with regards to the charity that is given generally: .  فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ (‏رواه مسلم) . “And save yourselves from the hell fire even if it be with the piece of a date.” (Muslim) Meaning: giving it as a charity. it is a small charity but if it is given correctly with a good intention and a sincere heart for the sake of Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى), it could save the one who gives it from the hell-fire. . Giving has always brought out the best in people. No one in the history has become a poor after helping or supporting the society.
