Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that." (Bukhari) MashaAllah! How incredible! Rhetorically, all Muslims believe that prostitution (zina) is unlawful (haram ) for anyone, it is even among the greatest sins in Islam. But, Allah al Rahman al Gafoor forgave a prostitute because of her act of giving some water to a thirsty dog. An act that seems trivial to us turns out to be the cause of a great sin to be forgiven. How could that be? This is because Allah is ar Rahman, the Most Compassionate, al Raheem the Most Merciful, and al Gafoor the Oft-Forgiving. If a prostitute can be forgiven owing to her mercy to a dog, won't we be more blessed and gain a lot more reward if we show our compassion and mercy to man especially
